The new issue of the Believer arrived today, complete with jumbocoversmixcomp as promised. There are some initial surprises on the disc; the Cocorosie track is inordinately excellent, the Mount Eerie doing Thanksgiving is overly disappointing. Some of the tracks that I had anticipated the most turned out to amusing but stopped short of anything else: Decemberists taking on Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart as Antony. The Shins cover of the Postal Service sounded pretty much exactly the way we all expected it would, and I want to throw up even thinking about those two forces co-mingling their made-for-soundtrack forces -- palatable apart, together they are as deadly as any B. Willy/P. Diddy joint.

Also, the Paleface quandry is solved.
